Songs for Communion is self-explanatory. Each song is well arranged and the vocals are clear and beautiful. The lyric sheet in the box is also easy to read.

The songs date from 1995 to 2009. “Like the Bread” and “In This Place” include a mandolin (making them my favourite songs) and “We Come to You” has a Wurly.

The music is modern and upbeat — often with a touch of rock.

This Just Might be the Most Soulful Americana Album of the Year

Kieran Kane is one of those Americana folk singers who falls into the mildly contradictory category ‘new traditionalists’, like Gillian Welch. Originally from New York, Kane is a long-term player in the alt-country scene, sounding a little like Buddy Miller, Willie Watson or Eric Bibb.
