The Assembly of the Uniting Church in Australia has acknowledged the pain and suffering of all those who have suffered abuse in all circumstances, but particularly at the hand of institutions.

In a media statement released on November 13 it said, “Abuse of children is intolerable wherever it occurs.

“The Uniting Church is committed to working openly and transparently with the Royal Commission announced yesterday by the Federal Government.

“We hope the Royal Commission will provide an opportunity for healing, justice and reconciliation for all those who have suffered.”
