Just Go With It

Romantic comedies need … romance … and comedy

(M) Sony DVD/BD

Adam Sandler plays Danny Macabee, an LA plastic surgeon who we feel sorry for as the film opens with heartbreak on his wedding day.

This sympathy evaporates quickly as Danny develops his routine for picking up women based on the lie that he is still married.

This lie then compounds into others after he meets the girl of his dreams, Palmer (Brooklyn Decker). Cover-up turns to disaster as Danny and his receptionist Katherine (Jennifer Aniston) have to invent scheme upon scheme to keep Danny in with a chance.

When Katherine’s cartoon-like precocious children get involved, things spiral out of control in the direction ofHawaii.

I’m sure Danny lives happily ever after with one the female leads, but I couldn’t watch it through to the end to find out which one.

Romantic comedies need … romance … and comedy. Just go with it? I think not.
