The renowned international progressive biblical scholar John Dominic Crossan will visit Sydney to deliver a series of lectures and one major public address in September 2012.

The nine lecture series to be delivered over three days, September 4 to September 6, 2012, is “The Power of Parable: How Fiction By Jesus Became Fiction About Jesus”.

The public address exploring a Christian theology of the Bible, 7 pm on September 7, is “Divine Violence: How to Read the Christian Bible and Still Be a Christian”.

The “Common Dreams on the Road Event” is jointly sponsored by a cooperative of progressive groups in and around Sydney.

### John Dominic Crossan

Born in Ireland, Professor Emeritus at DePaul University, Chicago, Dom Crossan is widely regarded as the foremost historical Jesus scholar of our time.

He was the Co-Chair of the Jesus Seminar from 1985–1996. He has authored many books including *The Historical Jesu*s, *The Birth of Christianity*, *In Parables*, *God and Empire*, and *The Greatest Prayer*.

He has also co-authored several books with Marcus Borg including *The First Christmas*, *The First Paul*, and *The Last Week*. He is a regular presenter on many of the *Living the Questions* DVD resources.
