Theologian and lecturer J. I. Packer, now in his eighties, is a father of modern evangelism, and through scholarship and Christian witness has provided the next generation with ample material to continue on his work in a modern context.

Gary A. Parrett, now a professor at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, was inspired by Packer whilst a student at Regent College, to pen a work on catechism, an important but forgotten foundation of the Christian faith. Grounded in the Gospel is the product of that inspiration with Packer signing on and adding a depth of experience to Parrett’s insights.

The heart behind Grounded in the Gospel is evangelism and equipping evangelicals with a systematic theology regardless of their denomination. The book is clear, concise, thorough and relevant however quite academic in its language and concept.

In today’s pluralistic and relativistic climate, going back to Scripture, drawing from tradition and building on vast ministry experience is an absolute necessity I thoroughly recommend believers ground themselves in this doctrine to ensure they are not blown left and right by the winds of modern day belief.
